Whirling dervish

Been messing around with this rocket launcher for the past hour or two and I'm still not done with it but I'm also not sure if it's satisfactory or not. Independantly, it looks fine, but with the Zzap gun it looks a bit cramped onboard.. of course, both will only be present when it's being used as a Guntrukk, which means no boyz onboard, but I'm not sure if I want to work with it further or not.

Zzzap gun from scratch

Zzap turret. I think it looks suitably dangerous and electrical - I tried to make it look like they're drawing power from inside with the cabling. The turret still comes off for when I want to switch it into a Trukk - I'm actually going to have to make a Rokkit Launcha for that occasion, too.

Chain smoking

I've been trying to make a turret on and off for it, but I'm just not happy with anything I've made so far. I may take the easy way out and just buy a Zzap gun blister.

Bracing for impact

Things never seem to quite happen in the order I plan them with this trukk, but so be it. A lot of the newer changes are internal - I've repositioned the 9v sideways, which is practically a perfect fit - it slides in through the side doors after a bit of carving, and it's seated perfectly in there which means I can change it or fix the wiring if it ever comes to it.

I also glued a metal plate down underneath the planking, so now anything with a magnet in it's base'll end up sticking to the floor. Should make fixing the turret in place easier.

I obviously put sandbags all around the edges, which I think looks pretty good. There are some slightly large holes in the rear sandbag area, but I will be able to fix that without much of a problem by adding chains that loop through them to hold it together. These are Tamiya 1/48 scale sandbags, by the way - I think 1/35 would have been excessively large.

I put an engine component hanging out the back of the trukk in order to push the speed aspect of it - this is a Kult of Speed vehicle, after all, and excessive engines are key. It's not very integrated at the moment, but I will be building additional piping/wiring/exhausts leading from it. I think I'm just going to flat-out remove the rear drop-down door.

And, of course, it needs a removable turret. All in due time, though.

Walk the planking

Just a bit of an update before I go to sleep.

Added some more dings and scratches to the overall tank's exterior, and I decided to make a wooden fenced-in area for the top that will either house the turret or the boyz, depending on what role I need the vehicle to play.

Gob up front

I added an armor plate to the front to try and emulate an 'iron gob' sort of appearance, but I'm not sure if I like it. I can still try and pry it off if popular opinion is against it, I'm not sure either way just yet. I don't see spikes being added to that and still having it look 'gob'-like.

Tried to add a bit to the exhausts. I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing with this stuff yet, just waiting for inspiration to strike.

How I learned to love the bomb

guntrukk5 guntrukk6

Stuck a rocket in the tracks and cut the door out. I suppose I'll light the interior, too, in the event that I use it as a normal Trukk. I need to clean the job I did up a bit on the door.

I also ripped off the secondary headlights as the ork eyes will be sufficient. This thing is most likely going to get a Zzap cannon. I'm going to make it removable so I can swap it out with any other weapons I decide to put on it. I'm also planning on making it removable so that if I decide to use it as a trukk I can make a wooden planking enclosure that will hold the boyz.

Hitting the ground running

I bought a Whirlwind a while ago to use the rokkit launchers on my battlewagon, and I'm left with a rhino-esque chassis to work with. I decided I'm going to make it into a guntrukk, but because I like modular and interchangeable designs, I haven't picked a single armament for it yet - ideally, I'll be able to make different guns for whatever I feel like arming it with. I may also make a wooden deck attachment that would replace the top turret in the event I don't feel like using a guntrukk or need an extra trukk for transporting my boyz. So, overall, this is going to be a very open-ended design.

I couldn't help but see an orky face in the original Rhino front plate, so I figured I'd emphasize it a bit by bulking it out and making it a flat impact surface. Spikes should end up going along the bottom of the face to catch any enemies that get in the way.

After having put LEDs in my battlewagon, I wanted to do the same with all of my other vehicles. I cut two thin panes of glass and sanded them down a bit so they would diffuse light, and put them behind the 'eyes' of the vehicle - they'll ideally light up an orange color once I go out and buy the LEDs. I used a white flashlight to show what it looks like.

I also made the hatch that I put on one side hinged so that I could actually open it. I think I'm going to put a wooden deck inside there that folds down to the ground after the outer hatch has been opened - this is for when I decide to use it as a normal Trukk for transporting my boys, instead of a guntrukk.

Playing dress up

Started poking around trying to dress the arms up a bit.

Eh? There are some notably bare spots, but a lot of the bits I try out don't seem to quite.. fit, you know?

Dual Wielding

Here's where I'm at with both of them.

I think the torsos and legs of both are done, the arms just need prettying up. I managed to get a second pair of ML and TLLC arms for the other dread. Everything is magnetic - I can break each dread down easily to a torso, legs, engine, and arms. Should make painting a lot easier, as well as weapon swaps. I'm presently trying to figure out how I can convert the standard Dreadnought CCW arm into something a bit more daemonhuntery. It would be cool if I could get it manipulating a giant nemesis force weapon, but the stock hand isn't exactly great for grasping any weaponry. I don't want to go the forgeworld route either - I think that blade arm looks a bit silly.
