My nob, let me show you it

I may have a solution.

Well, this whole nob business is going slower than I anticipated because I had to spend the weekend celebrating my g/f's birthday, but I figured I'd throw a few pictures up of the W.I.P. I have so far. I simply greenstuffed it into a pose for photos, as I like to prime and paint separate parts to get at the cracks easier if I can. Grot not pictured at the moment, but he will be on the final model.

He'll be getting a 'Dead End' streetsign, freshly ripped from the ground with a concrete husk at the opposite end as his choppa. I've drilled the hand out as much as necessary for him to comfortably fit it in there, I just have to make it. I'm trying to figure out what the base is going to be exactly.. it'd be cool if I could put the hole the sign came from on it, but I might not have the space for it. I'm trying to figure out if a sidewalk-and-street-pavement arrangement is in order. I might do a simple asphault texture down the middle, with the yellow dashed lines running between his legs and a manhole on the base or something to that extent. This is already going on the next-up base size from the normal ork boyz, however many mm that is since I don't know off the top of my head, so that he can fit the carrying grot on with him.

I may actually rebase my orks for cityfight terrain, as their current 'brown-rocks' terrain is starting to bore me.

Da Jawz ‘uv Deff

trukknob5

I can't help myself. I started out making a PK based on the 'jaws of life' and it evolved into a huge mechanical arm that I know is excessively large but enjoy looking at. It's getting a bit more exterior armor, cables, and a rivet job, but I'm throwing pictures up here to see what the rest of you think. It's probably too big.

Cliche choppa

This boy'z all done, with a nailbat to stand in for a choppa.

I'm looking forward to working on the Nob now, really. The 'jaws of deff' idea based on the jaws of life is fantastic, and I'm definitely going to have to model a PK around it. I don't think I remember this.. do Nobz go on the regular sized bases, or are they on larger ones? I can't recall what the boxed nobz I got came with anymore.

I want the nob to epitomize the trukk-based mad-max army theme I have going on with this squad - lots of mechanics, probably armor made from tires and such, goggles (of course!)... I think I'll be outfitting em with a PK and Choppa, possibly with a shoota-skorcha kombiweapon slung across his back so that my less rule-lawyer opponents might let me use the unit as either a PK+Choppa nob or a PK+Shoota/Skorcha nob.

I'm going to get started on the 'jaws of deff', though. Going to try and make them look multifunctional - they can either pry an enemy tank clean open, or crush weak 'umie heads between the claws.

Orksas Chainsaw Massacre

Chainsaw! I would have given em a shotgun or hockey mask or all that, but I really don't want too much focus drawn on one boy out of the lot - if anything, I want the nob to stand out. I think it came out good, though. I may actually add a speed limit shoulder pad to him or something, as his arms look a bit bare, but I don't have the other boyz to compare to so I'll decide later on. I wish I could paint a little bit better, but it looks passable on the tabletop so I guess I'll survive.

Ork Tyson

Sorry for the poor compression, had to use Paint. I like this guy's pose more than the others, honestly, because he looks dynamic. Or, at least, ready to punch the hell out of something.

This brings the squad up to 7 strong, meaning I need at least two more and a nob. Should be fun.

Strength in numbers

Another Trukkboy joins the mob.

Starting to run out of ideas! I need some more helmeted orks to offset the non-helmeted ones I've made, so those'll be next. For some reason, I'm not really fond of ork heads with hair, although I'm wondering if an ork with a mohawk wouldn't fit with my overall theme.

Turbo’s all done.

I love this guy, and I think he turned out great. I may touch some things up here and there, depending on public opinion and if anything comes to mind, but he's full of character.

Sorry about the small size of the images, the camera I'm using now doesn't have much of a resolution to speak of - I hope that it's still clear enough to make out, though.

Birth of the Turbosquig!

I couldn't help myself.

trukksquig1

The putty under the wheels is just temporary to stick it to the base, as I'll paint them separately. I think I'm going to make the squig purple?

The greenstuff on the body is where cables enter into the skin - they are linked to the engine in the back, taken from a choppa.
