A fever! Prescription: Burna

I tried to make this burna boy unit look like it had just finished burning the crap out of something and the ork was taking a smoke break - I tried to make his clothes and body in general look scorched and covered in ash. Paint's a bit meh. Tried some stuff on it I think didn't work - he looks fine on the tabletop, though, but I may strip him down and repaint at some future time.

'Ere we go:

Gonna get back to making more boyz!

Slash and Burn

I started working on my next entry for the squad. He's the burna boy for my Trukk Boy squad. My idea for him would be to have the flamethrower leaning over his shoulder, with his mask pushed up, and smoking, just a casual ork look. I assembled it and I like it a lot, but the legs are posing me a problem.

There are two versions of the legs below. The first one is with the normal ork 'hunch' to the legs, with the forward 'on the move' look. The second is my attempt to try and straighten his spine out a bit, to make him look more casual and relaxed. I want to know which one you guys like the most before I finish layering details onto em.

And my attempt at straightening (unfinished, but rough pose pics):

Even more Trukkboyz

Alright, well. It got bitterly cold here, which basically ruined my motivation to go outside for anything other than coffee today. I ended up taking pictures inside, but they came out a little washed out, so maybe if things get warmer later on in the day I'll try and adventure back out and grab some better shots - I'll definitely get some better ones of the new one, for sure.

Anyway, I think it turned out alright. He doesn't have any kind of shoulder pad - I don't know if he looks too bare or if its okay to leave him like that. I can't think of much to put on him if I do decide it's too bare, too.

I think he looks a little bit too clean on the metal bits. I'll probably ink them a little bit to dull them down, and I'm sure an ork glyph or blood on the weapon couldn't hurt.

Elbow grease

I'm just setting this up to dry before I hit bed, but I thought it was a pretty neat idea so I took pictures anyway. My modified 'choppa' for my next ork - they're rough pictures, but who cares?

This mob of Trukk Boyz is going to be 10 strong - 8 with Slugga & Choppas, 1 with a Burna, and 1 Nob with a Choppa and PK. My entire army's going to be themed like these boyz, though. There will be many more squads, but I'm going to do my damndest to have no two orks the same, conversion-wise.

Stop, drop and roll (out)

Managed to get another Trukk Boy made... Trying to individualize them a bit. I like hit shotgun - I made it from one of the normal sluggas. I wish it'd come out a bit cleaner, but I can't complain, as it gets the idea across. My orks love their boomstikks. And goggles, of course. I think I'm getting better at doing them - from a tabletop view, this guy looks great. It was a pretty good day out, too, so I took some of these pictures outside.

The stopsign is a bit rough, but I'm still satisfied with it.

I might throw a little barbed wire down on the base or something, make it a little less bland. Or flock, now that I think about it.

I realize the two bases are slightly different colors - I'll fix that.

How the Trukkboyz began

So, I went out and I bought some Tamiya paints. They're more watery, drab colors that I imagine are used for tanks and such. They allowed me to paint a bit more of a gritty, realistic ork with a more drab, olive skintone that I think I like. I also got to experiment with goggles and the tire shoulder idea I had - I want to arm my trukk boyz with goggles and pieces of vehicles. I took some of these pictures with one of my previous boyz for comparison purposes. I think the newer skintone came out pretty good, and I might make the rest of my army those colors.

Goggles, shotgun and knife strapped across the back, some chains, and a section of tire as the shoulder guard. I like how it came out, but I'm not sure if the skintone is too dark. I was afraid how the goggles + helmet combo would look - they're supposed to be pushed up over his eyes and onto the top of the helmet, but my girlfriend thought they were on his eyes... meh. The tire is one of the flat ork shoulders with greenstuff ontop of it - I just smoothed it out and carved a little tread.

Last bits of paint

I tried cleaning the check marks up a bit, and I think they're reasonable for an orky artist at this point. I also took some distance shots and got some shots of the banner. The lighting in my dorm is kind've dissapointing, but I was able to take some of these pictures outside as well.

I think I'm going to leave the exhaust longer because I like how obscenely huge it ends up being. The rust is a touch of vermin brown and blazing orange. I tried not to go too overboard with it, though. This entire conversion simply spawned from the fact that when I went to my local GW the other day I seem to have won the raffle and went home with a free catachan battleforce. I've been tearing it apart for orky conversions since, hence why I put the dead guardsman in and all.

Da Boss Meanz Business!

Took a knee joint from the same sentinel and used it as the elbow brace for the klaw arm. I also worked on figuring out the base, since I have a lot of leftover guard stuff.

Big Ol’ Claw

I'm just getting started in 40k and orks in general, and I figured I'd start by making my Warboss for my planned Kult of Speed army. However, since I couldn't find any decent right-arm power klaws on any models to strip off, I went ahead and made my own.

Got myself started off with a very blocky claw part because I wanted his power klaw arm to be huge.

A few WIP shots first:
